We live exactly 6 hours and 12 minutes from Las Vegas, by car. I’m not really a big “Vegas” fan, but the sound of a weekend vacation and an all you can eat buffet really had my ears ringing. We even almost booked a hotel at MGM; they were having a weekend special: $73 dollars a night + 1 night free… but we’ve decided to stay home.
One of my favorite things about the holidays are the limitless potential they hold, whether home or away – for such things as dessert buffets. Last week, during my blogiversary celebration (which today is the last day to enter btw), all of my featured bloggers donated fabulous buffet recipes, not to mention the treats themselves! From Biscotti to fabulous cookies and more fabulous Cookies to Muffins to Toffee.
Today, getting back to the November theme of promised Thanksgiving desserts, I am going to add a must have to that list of buffet desserts already given:
Chocolate Walnut Fudge
Line cookie sheet with foil
Make sure foil completely covers pan, and up sides of pan
Grease with butter20 oz. chopped chocolate
2 cups mini marshmallows
1 ½ cups nuts (I prefer walnuts)
Place all ingredients into a large bowl – set asideOver med heat, bring to a boil:
12 oz. evaporated milk
1 tablespoon vanilla
2 sticks butter
4 cups sugar
Cook for 8 minutes, once liquid has reached a low rolling boil
Pour over chocolate
Stir quickly until chocolate and marshmallows have melted
Pour immediately into prepared pan
Spread evenly and let set overnight in cool place
When fudge is firm and chilled cut into squares, or use a cookie cutter for desired shapes
Wrap tightly to prevent air from drying out fudge
Keep in a cool place
Airtight, will last several weeks
This is also a great treat to serve guests before your feast, as a thank you if you are celebrating at another person’s home, or for stocking stuffers for next month!

As much as I like the walnuts in this fudge, it is the marshmallows that have sold me. These must be the best.
I love the huge chunks of walnuts in this creamy lookin' fudge ~ Thanks for the recipe!
My husband is not a fudge fan, but I am–thanks for the recipe. Great idea for gifts.

Hey Kitty! I hoped to see you in Las Vegas… Definitely let me know when you are in town so maybe we can get together.
I love fudge!!! I am so glad you can make it and you live around the corner. Love the apples!!!
We will most certainly miss you guys this thanksgiving. That was a lot of fun last year and I'm still drooling over that caramel apple pie. I tell everyone about it.
I love the cookie-cutter idea for cutting out the fudge! Not only does that make for fun fudge shapes but it ALSO means lots of leftover fudge scraps that need to be, um, er… taken care of, if you know what I mean 😉

What are foods that are specific – just for buffets?
I think I have a French/English language barrier, here… or it might be that I haven't been to enough buffets?!?!? LOL

I've been checking your blog ALL DAY to see if you picked a very, VERY lucky winner… *grin*
Any idea when you'll be putting your hand, up to your elbow, and into your proverbial hat, to see who will be the ULTIMATE winner? *grin*
