Shortbread Toffee Cookies

Equipment

  • 9x13 baking pan

Ingredients
  

Shortbread

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 cups flour

Toffee

  • 14 oz. condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Karo syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions
 

Shortbread

  • Mix all ingredients together until smooth and press into 9x13 greased pan
  • Cook at Fahrenheit 350° for 20 minutes
  • Let cool

Toffee

  • Bring all ingredients to boil over medium heat
  • Cook for 5 minutes stirring constantly
  • (When mixture pulls away from the sides of the pan, it is done. Depending on your stovetop, it may not require the full 5 minutes of cooking time.)
  • Remove from heat and stir in vanilla
  • Pour immediately over shortbread
  • Let set

Finalè:

  • Drizzle melted chocolate over toffee
